Full time in Group C Swan 4-1 Slip Swan purred which is a weird noise for a Swan to make. Slip not shit, but Swan took advantage of the xG (extra guzzles) to romp home. Angel on the Green did a fine job as voting pub. Half Moon hates me.

Full time in a damp York. Group B Fox 1-2 Volunteer Arms. Both failed to hit the heights of some recent performances , Volly just a bit friendlier and all encompassing. Voting at the Crystal Palace where a bloke in the bushes ran off to Holgate pavilion to get changed.

@RocknRichRockin Wasn't he a Smashing Pumpkin? Didn't know that but yeah enjoyed all those pubs.

@DicePub It's owned by the Colgans, who started at the Blues Bar, Harrogate, but now own (or long lease??) quite a few classic boozers, World's End Knaresborough, Black Rock Wakefield and Junction Otley. Good pubs all....

Full time from the Stonegate Arena in Group A ..... Black Swan 2-4 Black Horse. A great game. Horse edging it all round with great Blues, Old Moor Porter and that momentum suggesting it is getting back to its 2005 best. GBG 2027 spot? It'd deserve it.

@DicePub Was it a post their 'free of tie' big celebrations visit, we're they all still a bit shellshocked and hungover from their jubilations ??

Also, a few weeks ago Group C ..... 🐦‍🔥 Phoenix 3-0 Golden Ball Beer surprisingly poor in both. Phoenix had front bar charm, Ball had a Kazoo quiz n wet outdoor benchm Ball only pub in last 16 on zero points. Manager under pressure!

Full time in group D. Golden Fleece 1-3 Waggon & Horses. Despite a great pint of Rat from Fleece, their tipping inference n general malaise meant Waggon student quiz n top ale swoops down for win, not to mention free chocolate 🐣

@RocknRichRockin Yeah we'd still probably all put G Ball in our top 10, possibly even top 5. But like you say, it is all what happens 'on the night'

@DicePub Christ, The Golden Ball on nil points. I know, like football, it depends which pub turns up on the day, but up against the Phoenix, it's like playing Real Madrid PSG or Barca away...

Full time in group B. Walkover! York Tap w/o Ackhorne. 3-0 awarded. Ack wouldn't let us in cos 'at capacity' on quiz night. Yes it was busy, yes the man was nice about it. But even so, hmmmm. Windmill then somehow outperformed Falcon Tap in the non-voting pubs!

Full time in Group A . Market Cat 1-3 Blue Bell. All about atmosphere as other categories quite even. BB has now won 2/2, MC lost both. So all about next fixture when the two Blacks (Swan n Horse) go head to head. Massive game!

@DicePub I cant believe the Fossgate tap won a game, always seems an awful pretentious unwelcoming atmosphere in there, I very rarely stop !!

Pivni 0-2 Fleece. Surprise result in Group D, perhaps the weakest CL tie on paper. Even more surprising, was beer that won it for Fleece. Cheers Krzbi for group tables so far, very professional ✨. See you 2 or 3 wks as we return to group A.

Full time at Bish Terrace. A cracker. Slip Inn 3-3 Phoenix. Phoenix wins the shoot out (Auto windscreen / old time hockey style) for bonus point in group C. Fight for the Ashes! See you next time for a group D clash between Pivni n Golden Fleece.

Full time in group B .... Volunteer Arms 3-2 York Tap. Deserved win but competitive on a cold sleety night in York. Beers excellent, decent atmosphere n comfort, staff could've done more in both. See you in few weeks for Slip v Phoenix.

Full time in Group D! Waggon n Horses 2-3 Fossgate Tap. Shock win for the Foss in a near waterlogged York. Waggon had great Summer Lighting but staff n punters clique cost it dear on quiz night. Fossgate had amazing beer n a decent welcome despite some atmosphere issues.
