The idea that we should wait for rock bottom -- wait for the disease to get worse before seeking treatment is dangerous and isn't backed by science. Decades of research has proven that the earlier someone is treated, the better their outcomes.

This meditation by addiction expert Dr. Jeff Foote will help you "create space and let go." We hope it can be helpful in times of stress – whether you are struggling with substance use, love someone who is, or are having a tough time in your own way. cmcffc.org/article/guided…

You know what we never do? We never say to someone who is worried about starting a particular cancer treatment that they just don't care enough about getting better. We offer lots of options!! Why do we keep treating people with SUD different?

When I shared my reservations with 12-step because of my religious beliefs, rehab counselor told me I must not want recovery enough. Great piece by @maiasz on the ubiquity of religion in American drug treatment. nytimes.com/2023/03/11/opi…

As of the other day I’ve been sober for 21 yrs. I’m still a weirdo, I’m still creative & when I fuck up these days I clean up the mess way sooner & way more thoroughly. And I never have a hangover! It’s a good deal. Thank you to everyone who’s helped me along the way.❤️
