Fun fact: the Marathon spinner is actually a hand-coded shader! It has to display before the engine loads any textures or videos, so it's entirely procedurally animated and rendered by a shader I wrote for it using SDFs, procedural noise, and a pile of math for the animation :)

If Marathon gets shut down it would be the best game to ever close shop. I have a hard time seeing that happen. It’s the first feature complete FPS I’ve played in 10+ years. Pulled me in on day one and sinks its teeth further every day. Just wish more people would try it

Obsidian has already made it publicly known that they DID NOT want to make a Fallout game. Microsoft is pointing a gun to their heads and forcing them to do it. Imagine if Larian was forced to make BG4. What's the likelihood that game would've turned out great? I have very little faith that NV2 gives players what they want.

It sucks that I enjoy playing Marathon, but as soon as I stream it "How can you disgrace Destiny 2 like this", "Dead game, Destiny 2 has more players", "You are the reason why Destiny 2 died", etc Can I just play a game without everyone acting like I shut down Destiny 2?!? 😭

Sony is gonna be in for a very rude awakening when they find out putting all their chips on Marathon was a bad move, I think it’s a fun game, but Destiny should be the main focus, and not supporting Destiny 2, or developing Destiny 3, is legit an incredibly stupid decision.
