And it totally did to me with the endings and true end. That's what it also tries since the beginning, telling you to accept and not to look. That's why all endings are so over the top. That's why the OP ends with the sky clearing up.

It had a good initial concept with presentation that complimented it perfectly, but was just written SO BAD GODDDD

Ryukishi's repetitive style can really help drive home aspects of the story. You may find the part of Minagoroshi where they continually go to the child welfare office boring, but it was clearly done to show just how arduous of a process it is for both the reader and the club.

What's crazy is that we know from interviews like the one for the DragonQuest HD-2D remakes that the creators don't even want to do this, but it's clear they have to follow what the higher ups say or else their game doesn't come out, even if it's to the detriment of the game.
