The main reason I feel pretty strongly about this isn’t because it’s good business (though it is) or because it’s more faithful (though it is), but because most of my EN speaking friends are Australian, and I’ve seen their enjoyment be hampered by overly Americanized references.

@SaGa_NeilB As aged as the combat system is, the freedom and impact of player choice in choosing race and main/sub job combinations is unrivaled. My favorite was blue mage and puppetmaster, the closest we may ever get to SaGa's monster party members and the equipment-dependent robots.

FFXI is popping off the past couple of years. As the localizer who has worked on it the longest, it makes me happy to see so many new players enjoy it. Note: servers aren’t shutting down, they’re simply not letting new characters be created on some servers due to overpopulation.

People speculate on if Bonnie and Formina are lesbians. We have no official position, so it’s up to you. Personally, I think the fact that within 5 minutes of meeting they hold hands, move in together, talk about how they don’t have boyfriends, and adopt three cats is telling.

Came back from the grocery store, and there was an old caucasian guy taking a photo of the inside of my apartment building. I asked if he needed any help. He said no. I said that I live here and it's creepy to take pictures of the inside of people's homes. He didn't seem to care.

@SaGa_NeilB That's so strange, considering other parts of the games. It's been a while since I played through FFL1, but I remember laughing after beating a bandit or thief boss and the aged dialogue almost absurdly amounted to Boss: "I'm going to die." Heroes: "Good."

For the gameboy SaGa remasters, I was requested to make a couple changes by the ethics team that I thought were slightly suspect. The localization was early 2020, and the general mood was a bit on the “overprotective” side. I think recent course corrections are much better.

@Evanspens762737 Nikke has a problem with limited run units, particularly collab, because there are no ways to upgrade their cores later without a re-run. I have limited money right now, didn't bother pulling because -maybe- getting unit locked at 0-core can't compete with my normal squaddies.

@KOGG__ Speaking for myself, I didn't even bother rolling on them because I have limited resources and getting a single copy, no core unit is basically useless with no way to upgrade them later when I have money. Nikke needs generic body frame upgrades to use for limited units.

@SaGa_NeilB I see now, the Japanese seems more directly personal and tied to the game with the door reference, but both carry a lot of the same emotional weight of reminiscence, joys, and regrets over one's life. It's a miracle they both work so well with the same music!

@Doltron2 The lyrics for the Japanese version of Diva’s last battle song, Beyond the Doors, are actually not a translation of Auld Lang Syne, but original lyrics penned by Kawazu-san! Auld Lang Syne’s melody in Japan is known in the song “Hotaru no Hikari, but the lyrics are different.
