I am horrified by the attack at a synagogue in Manchester today, particularly on Yom Kippur - the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those affected and the Jewish community who will be suffering at this time, and my thanks go to the emergency services.

Here I am in March 2020, wearing the flimsy PPE frontline staff were given, bracing for an influx of desperately sick people with SARS-CoV-2 — what we now call COVID-19. I watched patients die. Our colleagues die. Michelle Mone should be in jail. And she should only be the first name on a very long list.

Jill and I are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jane Goodall whose activism, vision, and message of hope mobilized a global movement to protect the planet. Above all, Jane taught us that when we search for humanity in the natural world around us, we discover it within ourselves. We are sending our love and strength to the Goodall family and everyone who was touched by her remarkable life of service.
