DOOM: The Dark Ages – ALL DLC Info so far:
COMBAT:
- Slayer Gates are returning.
- Archville will be returning.
- Mobility will play a major role in the DLC,
- Every new mechanic will meaningfully affect gameplay (similar to the Sentinel Hammer in TAG 2).
- The gameplay loop will still be the same, but with fresh new stuff.
- A secret weapon that will require work to unlock. The weapon is "tied to a meaningful piece of lore, that [id is] going to share with us"
- New Spear weapon featuring a possible teleport or leap ability.
> Dash with Hugo saying “I didn’t say where it is, I didn’t say what it is specifically”.(Personal Speculation: Possibly connected to an enemy, secret weapon, the Spear, or a new ability)
>“You could maybe dash evade and stab with something”
- The DLC skill ceiling is super high.
- Quickswapping tech in the DLC, but you have to earn it. “It’s done in a way that you aren’t anticipating.”
Can combine/use that tool with other tools, feels great.
> Mastering one of the tools requires a lot of investment, but unlocking its potential transforms the game into something else.
- The gameplay loop will still be the same, but with a fresh new loop to master in the DLC.
EXPLORATION:
- We will most likely see more of the cosmic realm.
- There will be a hub area — likely the Kreed Maykr’s ship.
- Exploration will have a stronger role in overall progression.
- Challenges will also be based on Combat, Exploration and Puzzles!
- DLC will be more metroidvania-esque; lots of backtracking
- Additional mobility options will be available, and some sections will require them.
- Levels will feature more backtracking, more unlocking of the space.
- Roughly 30% of content will be inaccessible until the DLC’s story is completed.
- The DLC is MASSIVE. It’s BIG. “It’s basically like a sequel” according to Hugo, the expansion is HUGE.
LORE:
- Khan Maykr will be Returning.
> Nika Futterman will be Reprising her role!
- Daisy will make an Appearance
- Major lore questions fans have asked about will be pushed forward.
- Some connections to DOOM (2016).
- Teases relating to the Sentinel Civil War, the Wretch, and “armor” (Interesting...)
- We are going to meet people from the lore that we have been waiting to meet.
- Marok will have a role in the DLC.
- Cutscenes will be more immersive, possibly in first-person.
- The Order of the Six (the High Council) are likely our targets.
- Darin De Paul (voice of Hayden/Kreed) returns in the DLC.
- The story is more of an experience than something you just watch, and there’s more environmental storytelling.
- Lore/codex entries won't necessarily be longer, but will be more worthwhile to collect and read.
RIPATORIUM 3.0:
- Ripatorium 3.0 Will Launch Alongside the DLC (from what we Know so far)
- Slots to save personal Encounters
- Togglable Instant Respawns for Waves
- Easier way to share encounters
MUSIC & MISC:
- There will Only be ONE DLC
- Finishing Move will most likely be returning to compose the OST. (Not Yet Confirmed)
