Of course I didn’t say or even imply that you’re reviewing our books. Rather, you are passing judgment on our views detailed and fully supported in our books without reading them. It is irresponsible to presume that you know our views well enough to simply dismiss the task of reading them. It sounds like you don’t have the patience to do the homework required to make responsible sweeping statements. Maybe you don’t have much experience making sustained arguments for your own views, but you shouldn’t assume that others are as lazy and freewheeling as that. And writing self-published fantasy fiction for a handful of people doesn’t do much to establish credentials as a thoughtful critic seeking to be a social influencer.

This is a very important question to wrestle with. The most simple answer is that 3rd way and NAR are two opposite ends of an unbiblical extreme. 3rd way wants to silence Christians from engaging in politics (conservative politics, at least), and NAR wants to bring the kingdom of God to earth through politics. It's baked in to their eschatology. Often, "Christian Nationalism" is a lazy pejorative aimed at Christians who want to be salt and light in their culture with how they engage politically. At this point, I'm not even sure the phrase has meaning unless the person using it defines it precisely. So putting that aside, NAR eschatology seeks to capture the 7 mountains of influence (government, education, entertainment, business/finance, family, religion, and media), and until they do, Jesus won't return. NAR shows up in evangelical churches first and foremost through their music. Bethel Church in Redding, CA is the spearhead of NAR, and their music is sung in almost every church in the country. Secondly, they are showing up through their political engagement, which is how they blend in with the current mood of Christians waking up to the importance of biblical political engagement. Many Christians who are unaware of NAR don't spot it at first because NAR proponents will have the right views on sanctity of life, marriage, and other values that Christians are advocating for. But their end game is very different. There is so much more to say but I'm trying not to overwhelm. Here is an interview I did with @Hollypivec and @douggeivett a while back about the dangers of NAR. youtu.be/lYAtKSua59M?si…

@alisa_childers Just learning these terms…how are NAR and “Christian nationalism” connected? Where does that show up within the evangelical church? I thought 3rd way-ism was the absence of politics in church? How would those be connected?

Jacob, I hope your followers are tracking this. You’ve admitted that you haven’t read our books while smugly asserting that you know we’re wrong. You cannot be taken seriously, except by people who will not think for themselves. You excuse behavior you chastise in others. For example, you have called film commentators Siskel & Ebert blowhards and said you doubt they even watched all the films they reviewed. Now you’re posturing as an authoritative reviewer of our work while openly admitting that you haven’t read it. May God have mercy.

@DougGeivett @alisa_childers Doug, it does. And sure, I cannot speak to every single person who has left Bethel, but to say "all" is an outright lie. A shameful one, in fact. I'm proof of that. And... no. Why would I read your books? Your books rely on gossip, unreliable testimony, and outright lies.

Jacob, your past experience with Bethel Church in Redding does not make you a reliable authority. All those who have left Bethel and abandoned its noxious teachings and practices, including some with leadership involvement, testify to this. And you can be sure there are plenty at Bethel now who have grave misgivings about what they‘ve gotten themselves into. Some will have the courage to join the growing throng of witnesses to the spiritual and emotional trauma that has been documented. May I ask you a direct question, have you even read our books *Counterfeit Kingdom* and *Reckless Christianity*?

@alisa_childers I watched your interview with them. They have nothing but "trust me, bro." They are spreading lies and so are you by repeating them. It is bearing false witness.

@philvischer You didn't mention, Phil, that these are our extreme leftwing Catholic brothers and sisters. People shouldn't be made to think that all of Catholic Christendom agrees with NCR.

@LifeWithoutLack @HollyPivec NARlies have additional reasons for being pro-MAGA. Their seven-mountain mandate dovetails with their perception of MAGA, and their prophets, though abominably errant, have seized on Trump as the witting or unwitting advocate for their dominionist cause.

Today, Christian women gather at the Mall in Washington D.C. for the "A Million Women" event, led by the NAR prophet Lou Engle. Yet, many of the women who take part are not aware of its connections to the controversial and harmful #NewApostolicReformation.

@LifeWithoutLack @HollyPivec MAGA would fail without "evangelicals," and the evangelicals it appeals to include non-NAR evangelicals who are profoundly irritated about "wokism," both inside and outside the church.

@LifeWithoutLack @HollyPivec This assumes that MAGA has a "theological background." Not sure what that means, but MAGA doesn't have to have a theological basis to be what it is. It's a populist movement among conservatives, many of whom are "evangelicals" of varying stripes.

@PDavidCMcGuire @HollyPivec Spiritual discernment comes with growth in the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5), which is a product of faithful obedience to the commands of God revealed in Scripture. Such discernment is also reflected in proper interpretation of Scripture, including 1 Cor. 2:14.

Simply by observing you on your roundtable discussion with Dr. Brown. As he was trying to explain to you about God leading us, it was a foreign concept to you both. The ideas in scripture that God leads and speaks to us outside of scripture befuddles you both. Which makes sense if you're not saved. The things of the Spirit can only be spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14 14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned

As I've watched the entire roundtable discussion of Dr. Brown and Doug & Holly, my takeaway is that Doug and Holly are hellbound Cessationists who are unteachable. They didn't come to the table to learn anything. @HollyPivec & @DougGeivett I pray that you will truly encounter God and humble yourselves. God has so much more for you.

If God only speaks to us through the Bible, and other gifts of the Spirit have ceased, then how do Cessationists like @DougGeivett and @HollyPivec, @JoshBuice, @jimcosman2, and others explain the numerous Muslims that come to faith when Jesus appears to them in dreams and visions?

Florida Line — those 5 are easy — from my view: 1. That was an Old clip from Brown 2. Brown is looking into the website  3. The “movement” terminology means different things to different people. I can definitely see how some people think. It is a movement in certain circles. 4. Lance W. — hoping he changes 5. Killpatrick was called an Apostle one time — how do you even know Brown was at that evening service? Where I come from that’s called cherry picking or strawman arguments. I sure hope that many are not straining at gnats and swallowing camels.

@DougGeivett and @HollyPivec and @DrMichaelLBrown and @gospel_american Wow. Soooooo good. On one hand, Doug and Holly had some really good points — that the terminology of some of these teachers is very sad to witness — from Bethel to Che’ Ahn — unbalance & unbiblical. But on the flip side, because I’m a friend of Dr. Brown, people have labeled me as NAR many times and I had no idea what they were talking about (now I do) — the NRA maybe but not the NAR 😱 I wish there was a way to expose these dangerous and false teachings, while at the same time, not throwing all charismatics into the mix … youtu.be/SSrPARqidAM?si…

@DrMichaelLBrown @DougGeivett @HollyPivec Honestly Dr. Brown, it seems they are committed to their opinion of you and nothing you say or show them will matter :( Hopefully I’m wrong. It says a lot about a Christian when they slander another Christian. Anyone who wants to know the truth will hear you speak for yourself.
