Data disproves the myth that many people attending emergency rooms should have been seen by GPs. The actual reasons are much more complex insightplus.mja.com.au/2023/29/ed-dat…
PracNet explored why patients attend afterhours appointments. Perceived need was high among ED, CALMS and WIC patients; but GP patients preferred afterhours for convenience. Read more here: doi.org/10.1071/PY22087
@bobepidemiology@nick_coatsworth The GP Clinical School is only a good idea if it has appropriate funding commensurate with rural clinical schools and hospital based clinical schools Otherwise it risks being nothing more than window dressing and creating further silos.
This is a great step forward: a General Practice Clinical School at the University of Sydney. Up to now all clinical schools have been in teaching hospitals. More exposure to GP teachers will encourage more graduates to become GPs. (From medical school newsletter, Radius.)

Research by GPs for GP patients - a critical part of the Danish health care system’s success. Well funded and well supported by the Danish University health sector and national funding. Could we do that here please??? #GPConnect#AAAPC#Pracnet#ANUMS

#RMA22. Great advocacy for rural & remote workforce. Let us not forget there are gradients in disadvantage other than geographical ones. Let’s unite over the need for incentives for workforce to serve high needs, underserved populations wherever they are - some are urban. #AAAPC
Aust GP Supervisors have high rates (70%) of burnout. We need to recognize and support these leaders who are vital to any long term GP workforce solution. Simply increasing clinical placements without appropriately resourcing them will not help @RMA22, @AAAPC_ANZ@ANUMedSchool

Today was a very good day. @brookmanknight@DrAnitaMunoz@racgp. Presented to me by two of the most exceptional GP leaders of our time, Adj Professor Karen Price and Dr Anita Muñoz.
When health experts announced that the majority of patients in hospital are unvaccinated — but not all — some wrongly felt this supported the theory that vaccination wasn’t effective. Actually, it once again shows how INCREDIBLY EFFECTIVE vaccines are. It’s all about proportions.
The reason why we’re debating schools is because we did not roll out kids vaccination early or quick enough. We also did not have enough RAT. And we were told that “omicron is mild”.
As it turns out, Australia is not in the safest place to have millions return to school. 1/
