If a police officer standing on a street corner can legally look at your license plate, automating that process doesn't violate the Constitution. Real tracking requires actively following a specific person's continuous movements; these cameras just sit still and watch a public roadway.

When someone takes down a Flock camera, Flock gets paid more to replace it. It’s contractual. It's replaced in a week or so. Until then, every Amber Alert, stolen car, and wanted person drives by undetected.
Meanwhile, the odds of getting caught climb daily as state and federal authorities charge this as organized crime against law enforcement operations.
Breaking the law and tearing down Flock cameras is how a society devolves into chaos. Constitutional concerns should be taken to the courts.

Focusing on science-fiction scenarios doesn't change what the technology actually does right now. Flock cameras don't use facial recognition, and the data isn't sold to corporations. Local police departments completely control their own sharing settings. Slippery-slope arguments about future AI tyrannies shouldn't stop us from using basic, encrypted vehicle descriptions to solve real-world drive-by shootings and car thefts today.

Nobody has a reasonable expectation of privacy in public. That’s been established law for decades. Flock cameras don’t follow you into your home — they read license plates and take photos of cars on public roads, the same way a cop sitting on the side of the road can.
If you’re a law-abiding citizen, these cameras are not a threat to you. They’re a threat to people committing crimes — car thefts, hit-and-runs, drive-by shootings, and catalytic converter thefts. I want criminals caught and public safety improved. That’s it.
Yes, we should have strict rules on data retention and access, but pretending that driving on public streets gives you an absolute right to anonymity is nonsense. I’ll take more tools that help police solve crimes over coddling criminals any day.

BUT: Three reporters from the alternative media outlet Apollo News were chased out of an Antifa demonstration in Erfurt and beaten.
While filming the demonstration, they were pursued by about a dozen people and knocked to the ground.
While they were on the ground, they were repeatedly kicked, including in the head.
Only the arrival of police officers brought the attack to an end.
The reporters were treated at the scene by paramedics for lacerations to the head, abrasions, and contusions.
