Chính những phẩm chất hiếm có và thời gian dài tôi luyện đã giúp ông sở hữu một giác quan nhìn người sắc bén. Bởi đầu tư thành công chính là phải đặt tiền vào đúng người, đúng chỗ. Ở một buổi phỏng vấn với đài CNN Business vào năm 2011, khi được hỏi về việc Donald Trump ngồi vào ghế Tổng thống Mỹ, ông đã có phản ứng bất ngờ. Charlie Munger hơi cau mày, hít một hơi sâu dường như đã sẵn sàng nói ra sự thật: “Trump là một doanh nhân thành công, là một người khá quyết đoán, NHƯNG…” Và câu chuyện thật sự bắt đầu từ chữ “NHƯNG” ấy. Vị lãnh đạo của một trong những tập đoàn đầu tư hàng đầu thế giới không xem Trump là nhà lãnh đạo hay người ra quyết định lý tưởng. “Trump sẽ luôn là sự lựa chọn cuối cùng mà tôi cân nhắc. Gần như là người cuối cùng tôi muốn trở thành Tổng thống Mỹ nếu không còn ai khác.” Khi được hỏi tại sao, Charlie Munger đã tiết lộ những lý do vô cùng sốc: Trump sở hữu những phẩm chất không phù hợp với vai trò lãnh đạo, mà ông miêu tả là: thích sự hào nhoáng phù phiếm, thích thổi phồng và khoe khoang quá mức và Charlie có thể liệt kê cả ngày. Nếu theo dõi Trump từ lâu, chúng ta sẽ thấy những miêu tả này gần như 100% chính xác.
