Yesterday we learned that @SFMTA_Muni is full speed ahead on its Battery Electric Boondoggle despite evidence that leveraging the overhead line system to electrify the transit fleet is the cheaper, faster, and environmentally superior solution with the fewest operational impacts.
10/n A speaker from Tallinn outlined the political struggle to retain trolleybuses. Fortunately, trolleybus advocates have prevailed, and the system is being renovated and expanded. Bottom line: local research established that trolleybuses are about 30% more effective than BEBs.

This is a failure of planning and a thorough abdication of their duty to transit riders and the taxpayers who will foot the bill. If the @SFMTA_Muni Board won't do anything maybe the @sfcta can step in and hold their capital funds
Interesting trolleybus news from Seattle. Kiepe Electric are fitting new batteries and chargers to the existing fleet of 170 trolleybuses dating from 2015 -17. The new equipment will treble the off-wire range. All manufactured in the USA. Photo: K P Canavan
