Foreign visitors who abuse or otherwise become reliant on U.S. taxpayer-funded benefits, can face severe consequences. Nonimmigrant visa holders abusing these benefits may have their visas revoked and face ineligibility for future visas. Make sure you’re prepared to pay your own way when visiting the United States.

Foreign visitors who use Medicaid or government assistance to pay for their medical care in the United States are abusing the terms of their visas. These costs are passed on to the American taxpayer. If you abuse or are otherwise reliant on U.S. public benefits, you may be ineligible for future travel to the United States.

Know the rules before you travel. A B1/B2 visitor visa can be used to conduct business meetings and negotiate contracts, but if you need to do work, then you need a different visa. Unauthorized employment can lead to deportation and/or a permanent ban from entering the country in the future.
