Eon Systems just dropped something crazy: they took a real fruit fly connectome (125k+ neurons, 50M synapses from FlyWire) and plugged it into a physics-sim body. With no training or RL the virtual fly started walking, grooming, feeding etc. The obvious question that comes to mind is: what if structure encodes behaviour as much as weights? I'm testing if an nn that can update its own structure performs better than one that just updates its own weights. Simulating it myself in FlyGym + Unity right now.
