Yesterday, we submitted our response to the Government’s eVED (pay-per-mile) consultation. The message from EV drivers is loud and clear: The proposed scheme is being introduced at the wrong time and in a form that does not work for drivers.

🎉 Good news for the UK EV transition: The Department for Transport has published its final compliance figures for the 2024 Vehicle Emissions Trading Scheme (VETS), confirming that both the car and van markets exceeded the first year targets under the ZEV mandate.

We are back on Friday for the second workshop of our series. 🚗 ⚡ This time we're focusing on the consumer experience at public chargepoints as for many EV drivers, this experience remains inconsistent and, at times, frustrating.

"What we need to do is focus on bringing public charging costs down rather than worrying about the availability of chargers". If Government wants more drivers to make the switch, EV policy needs to put them first.

On Times Radio, CEO Vicky Edmonds highlighted that "EV drivers worry less about the availability of charging and more about the price of public charging". More chargers matter, but when charging on the go can cost up to 10x more than at home, price becomes the biggest barrier.

Confidence in #EVs is growing, with more drivers making the switch each year. But misinformation is holding people back, shaping public opinion and influencing policy. That’s why we’re launching our new member workshop series with a session on tackling EV misinformation.

🚗 #EV drivers without driveways, we need you! 🫵 Last week, the Planning and Infrastructure Bill became law, including new Government commitments on cross-pavement charging, following sustained engagement from EVA England and our partners at New AutoMotive, REA & Kerbo Charge.

"It is crucial now that we build on this progress and ensure all drivers are properly supported to make the switch. This can be done by expanding reliable, affordable and accessible charging, supporting the used EV market, and ensuring incentives reach everyday drivers."

EVA England CEO, Vicky Edmonds, comments: "It's been another strong year for EVs as nearly 1 in 4 went full electric, and over a third in December alone. This shows that confidence is growing and support measures are working.

🚗⚡ November’s #EV sales figures are in, and the picture is increasingly clear: the shift to electric is well underway. @New_AutoMotive reports that EVs made up more than a quarter of new car sales last month - a strong sign that the electric market is continuing to mature.

⚡ The Government plans to make home charging easier and cheaper, mandating #EV chargepoints in covered car parks and consulting on removing planning permission for cross-pavement gullies. This could mean charging from just 2p per mile and saving up to £250 in fees.

Great news for accessible EV charging! The House of Lords has backed an amendment to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill to make public charging safer and more accessible for disabled drivers. We’re proud to support this crucial step towards an EV network that works for everyone

🚗⚡September figures confirm the EV transition is gathering pace as #EV registrations continue to grow in the UK. Our CEO, Victoria Edmonds, commented: "Another strong month for EV sales, showing the UK both remains on track with its Net Zero targets."

Based on my daily average mileage and the UK’s average price of diesel, this electric van will save us £6800-£7200 annually on diesel alone. Add some servicing, discs and pads and a clutch with DMF and we’ll have a free van after 4 years 👌🏼
