I remember when people mocked my English for sounding “Igbotic.” Then I asked myself, do they mock Italians, French, or Spanish people for their accents? No. Those are considered “attractive,” but mine is a problem? That’s not about me, that’s projection. Self-hate, low self-esteem. I’m not abandoning my identity to make anyone comfortable. I embrace my Igbo tongue fully. Until you start laughing at Italians for sounding Italian, this is a non-issue. PS: Everyone has an accent. It simply reflects where you’re from. Mocking it is just ignorance.
