RPGs with a party system like this should basically set it up so you have an A team that you control, and a B team comprised of the characters you’re not controlling, but they’re doing their own adventure stuff off-screen, so it’s not sad when you’re not using a character

final fantasy tactics made some of the “dismiss units” dialogue too sad. clearing up my party by removing a chocobo and it’s saying “i protect you, you protect me. isn’t that the promise we made?” like woof i just need to make room for a story-critical guy lol
