Further to my tweet about the PhD opportunity - it isn't as obvious from the advert, but the funding unfortunately isn't guaranteed as the project goes through a competitive process for funding following applicant selection.

celebrated my phd graduation a few weeks ago! pictured here using my degree certificate to hide my pregnancy! while I’m overjoyed, it’s also been bittersweet for a reason many people (esp. British academics) would do well to care more about:

@dataknut @drrosechard @draccoops @moiranics @SERL_UK No health record linking at this point, though there is one survey question about the number of people not working due to long-term sickness or disability. Misses people working with these types of conditions but a starting point perhaps?

🧵 How has the #EnergyCrisis impacted home heating behaviour? 1⃣ Homes in our Living Lab used 40% less gas* for heating in Sept & Oct compared** to last year. 2⃣ Home temps were 0.6ºC lower*** than last year. *While the sample size of 36 homes is small the data is stark. 1/2

There is tremendous risk in repeatedly analyzing data as it comes in… For example, in the absence of any effect, the p-values of repeated t-tests on a growing dataset will randomly walk between 1 and 0! Thanks to @lakens for inspiring this simulation! #RStats #dataviz
