The world is a healthier, better place because of President Carter. He had a bold vision to eradicate diseases across the globe - a goal he pursued with as much vigor from outside the Oval Office as from within. We at Pfizer were privileged to partner with him and the @CarterCenter to tackle blinding trachoma, committing a billion doses of Zithromax to those in need. Personally, I considered President Carter a hero and was so honored when he agreed to write the forward to my book, Moonshot. Shortly before he went into hospice, President Carter said: “The largest lesson learned from tackling these diseases is the importance of partnership and collaboration across sectors to drive global public health for all, and most important, to never give up.” He was right. We must never give up—not until we have realized his vision for public health. Thank you, President Carter for your inspiring legacy. May you rest in peace.

A study by @OHENews, commissioned by IFPMA, showed adult vaccination can, on average, return up to 19 times the amount spent through health and wider socio-economic benefits. In this @economistimpact piece, experts advocate for viewing adult #vaccination as an investment.

#Ad “It’s critical that we consider all expenditures on prevention, not as a cost, but as an investment,” says Maarten Postma, chair of global health economics at the University of Groningen. Find out how adult vaccination boosts economies and societies.

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance
“Every £1 spent on immunisation in Gavi-supported countries saves £21 from the costs of treating illness — and yields £54 when considering the economic productivity of a healthy population” - thank you @BillGates for highlighting why vaccines have an incredible return on investment: bit.ly/4eTFfQP

A single dose of HPV vaccine can prevent cervical cancer - a disease that kills more than 350,0000 women each year. @FKritz from @NPR shares how countries are leveraging this simple tool to save women's lives and what's needed to end this devastating disease.
PATH@PATHtweets

An uptick in global #HPV vaccine coverage is a bright spot in @UNICEF's annual vaccination coverage report, in part thanks to countries like Bangladesh adopting a single-dose HPV vaccination schedule: npr.org/sections/goats… #CervicalCancer #VaccinesWork

Defeating cancer is something we all must work together to achieve. So today we’re announcing a comprehensive plan to eliminate cervical cancer in the Indo-Pacific, the Cancer Moonshot initiative, with our partners in the Quad.  Because in our nations, as in every part of the world - cancer casts its shadow on the lives of our citizens and our loved ones. Australia has led the way in developing the life-saving HPV vaccine to prevent cervical cancer, and we’re on track to eliminate it at home. But cervical cancer continues to take the lives of too many women, with women in the Pacific dying of the disease at up to 13 times the rate of women in Australia. It’s not good enough, and we must take action. I thank my friends in the Quad for their partnership on this important fight.

40 years ago HIV was invariably fatal: 100% of people with HIV died from the disease typically in a few years. Today antiretrovirals lead to near-normal life expectancy & prevent the virus's spread. It's estimated that antiretrovirals save over a million lives each year.
