Full version is now published on the JEB website! In a nutshell, FITC-dextran leaks in vivo, but not ex vivo. No in vivo bacterial leak across the gut either, so we think that FITC-dextran is metabolized by gut bacteria in the locusts :) doi.org/10.1242/jeb.24…
