Today we celebrate 60 years of Jamaica-Mexico diplomatic relations. Since 18th March 1966, our two nations have built a partnership grounded in mutual respect, cultural exchange, and shared aspirations. We look forward to many more years of unity and opportunity ahead. 🇯🇲🫱🏻‍🫲🏾🇲🇽

On 13 March, Ambassador Julia Hyatt met with Undersecretary Raquel Serur Smeke to discuss bilateral priorities and preparations for the event to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Jamaica–Mexico diplomatic relations at the Museo Nacional de Antropología on 18 March 🇯🇲🤝🇲🇽

The Embassy of Jamaica extends sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones of the former Ambassador of Mexico to Jamaica, Juan José González Mijares. His service in building and strengthening relations between Mexico and Jamaica was impactful. May his soul rest in peace.

Ambassador Julia Hyatt is attending the Heads of Mission Meeting in Kingston, 9–13 February, where Jamaica's 18 Heads of Mission are meeting with the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and others on foreign policy and its role in Jamaica’s economic independence and development.

Following the Mexico-Jamaica Friendship Group installation ceremony, the Embassy team was invited to observe a session of the Chamber presided by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Mrs. Kenia López Rabadán.

The installation of the Mexico–Jamaica Friendship Group was held on 28 October, within the framework of the 66th Legislature of the Chamber of Deputies at the Palacio Legislativo where the Constitutive Act was signed by Ambassador Julia Hyatt and Deputy Claudia García Hernández.

GOJ developed and launched Support Jamaica (supportjamaica.gov.jm) — a platform to mobilise support, channel relief and coordinate recovery efforts in the wake of times of crisis and disaster, like hurricane Melissa. Click on “Donate Now” to support Jamaica's relief efforts.

Category 5 Hurricane Melissa made landfall in the south west of Jamaica on Tuesday, 28th October 2025 at 12noon. It is expected to traverse the island northwards impacting the entire country.

The legendary Skatalites and The Original Wailers lit up the stage at the Blackberry Auditorium in Condesa, Mexico City on 3rd October, in celebration of their 60th anniversary. Ambassador Julia Hyatt was honoured to be in attendance for this unforgettable musical showcase 💚💛🖤

On 29th September, Amb. Hyatt met with Mr. Pablo Moreno Cadena, President of ANFAD and representatives of MABE Mexico, a strong consumer brand in Jamaica for over 10 years, to discuss collaboration between 🇯🇲 & 🇲🇽 in advancing standards in the appliance industry.

Ambassador Hyatt was present at the reopening of the Jamaican owned restaurant, Te Amo Jamaica, at its new location - Roma Norte in Mexico City on 21st September. The Jamaican restauranteurs, Amoy and Ryan, were gracious and generous in hosting the event.

On 16th September 2025, Dr. the Most Honourable Andrew Holness was officially sworn in as Prime Minister of Jamaica for the third consecutive time following the September 3 General Election. The members of the Cabinet will be sworn in on 17th September.

Jamaican Ska has inspired generations, uniting people across cultures, including Mexicans. Many thanks to the Mexican Ska Band "Out of Control Army," other performers, and the organizers for showcasing the power of music in strengthening cultural ties between 🇯🇲 and 🇲🇽 #JcaSka
