At 9:05 AM CT, as DHS law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault, an individual approached US Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, seen here. The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted. More details on the armed struggle are forthcoming. Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect also had 2 magazines and no ID—this looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement. About 200 rioters arrived at the scene and began to obstruct and assault law enforcement on the scene, crowd control measures were deployed for the safety of the public and law enforcement. This situation is evolving, and more information is forthcoming.

That note is not justified on this post. This was an unfortunate event but I don’t think agents had did anything illegal. He was obstructing a federal law enforcement operation and had a 9mm with two magazines of bullets. He was clearly resisting the officers. It’s a tragedy but he’s brought this on himself

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Was he searched as he was resisting the officers….resisting officers with a firearm is a recipe for disaster….he was reaching for something when they called gun…it’s a dynamic real time situation..not a slow mo video..what would you do if someone was going to put a 9mm in your 🧠..he brought a sidearm to a potentially violent situation..just breathe stop think..was that a smart thing to do..his parents begged him not to confront ICE. They also begged him not to bring his firearm (which he never carried according to his family)..they must know his temperament to be that concerned…do you know better than his family. I’ll wait till the coroners report..he wasn’t executed..he stupidly brought a firearm to a potentially violent situation..he got himself into a bad situation of his making and it cost him his life, it’s tragic..yes..like the woman who was shot as she accelerated her car into an ICE agent…he should have stayed home that day…

A single frozen frame does not tell the story. Context does.
This individual was not peacefully complying. He was resisting arrest, armed, and attempting to get back up during an active enforcement action. Officers are trained that a suspect regaining footing while armed is an immediate threat. You do not wait to see what other weapons are present. You neutralize the risk before someone dies.
There is a reason video matters more than screenshots. Still images are propaganda tools when stripped of sequence, commands, resistance, and threat assessment.
Law enforcement is not required to gamble their lives to satisfy social media optics. Compliance ends encounters. Resistance escalates them. That is reality, not ideology.
Using this image to imply execution is reckless and deliberately misleading.
Tell the whole story… or stop pretending this is about truth.

After the first shot, Pretti reached into his waistband and pulled something out (his empty holster). Then he was shot.

Say that again, but slower….
There’s no proof in this video that the gun the officer was holding belonged to the suspect, it could have been his gun and he was moving away to get out of the line of fire, but let’s steel man your argument anyway.
Even if that gun wasn’t the officers, and that guy was actually disarmed a split second before the shooting, the other officers wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in the heat of the moment between reaching for a gun, and reaching for a holster.
They saw a man who just assaulted an officer and dragged a woman to the ground reaching for SOMETHING, and their training kicked in.
They did the right thing, he didn’t.
