NEW in a story on Trump's age by @katierogers and me: Trump's first official event starts later in the day. In 2017, his day's scheduled events began at 10:31 a.m. on average. By contrast, Trump in 2025 is starting his scheduled events in the afternoon on average, at 12:08 p.m.

Typos 42 and 43 of the day: under your style guide you modify capitalization in quotes to follow your style and lowercase titles unless they immediately precede their bearers’ names, so President should be lowercase. @EricaLG

My conservative followers keep nagging me about my supposedly partisan factual corrections, so I thought maybe I would gratify them by noting that these are not actually inconsistent statements. cc @EricaLG

@EricaLG It isn’t inconsistent to want race-blind hiring and think diversity-based hiring leads to hiring lots of unqualified people. These views often go in tandem.

@nyttypos Very true! But there was more to that example that made it clear why folks couldn’t really tell which of those stances he was taking.

@EricaLG While many people oppose diversity-based hiring for racist reasons, in theory when politicians say they oppose diversity-based hiring what they want to replace it with is race-blind hiring, not discriminatory whites-only hiring
