@_seriousbetty Congratulating Black women on their trauma is not complimentary. I was speaking mainly on art as medicine. I hope you are able to unpack why you would choose to reframe my words in such a way.
@AngelaSterritt No... I can't think of a situation where that wouldn't be paternalistic. There are enough BIPOC-led projects that are underfunded and undeserved and the gatekeepers to resources are mostly white folks . If white folks want to help they can play a supporting role by sharing access
Should white people run projects, organizations, and groups that are aimed for Black, Indigenous, and people of colour representation? (Only answer if you are BIPOC).
@kewatinohk@AllPointsWestBC Give thanks for your support. This needs to be a team effort. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to stand in my truth and proceed with integrity.
@AllPointsWestBC please post the interview w/ @EuphonyWorks Naomi Gracechild - SO many white service orgs in Vic need2 hear this from someone besides me! TY Naomi for saying the hard things and sacrificing yourself in the battle. It doesnt have to be this way #decolonize
Just watched a journalism conference w/ a number of news leaders boasting about their coverage of residential schools (& boasting about their diversity in the newsroom) & there is not one Indigenous journalist (or anyone named) in any of the conference workshops. 🤔🤨
I'll be on @AllPointsWestBC (CBC radio) today at 430 on responding to my recent essay about my recent resignation due to anti-Black racism in arts nonprofit.
@Westview_Al@_llebrun@CBCNews That's been happening since the beginning. Ever wonder why we only just started hearing about residential schools? Do you think that nobody tried to tell the press until recently?
