Another step forward: @raileurope now offers Interrail & Eurail passholder reservations on Spanish Railways. No booking fee. If you've a 1st class pass they also sell the AVE Premium reservation where an extra €10.50 gets you a meal, wine, lounge access. #Spain" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">seat61.com/interrail-and-…

SNCF's subconscious desire to really be an airline is revealed on architecture of France's dedicated TGV stations: Aix-en-Provence and Belfort-Montbéliard. More akin to an airline terminal than a normal railway station.

Dawn at our local station: Wannsee. Love the slightly retro feel. Served by ODEG, DB Regio, Berlin S-Bahn, IC2 and the wonderful ICE 101 running overnight via Rhineland to Switzerland @SimonCalder @seatsixtyone @AndyBTravels @raileurope. Do you have a favourite local station?

Züssow in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Not far from Germany's Baltic coast. Is this a perhaps the smallest community routinely served as part of DB's ICE network? ICEs connect here with local trains to/from the Baltic island of Usedom.

@stephengbrown Indeed! Those Ortenau S-Bahn trains through Kork and Kehl to Strasbourg are famously overcrowded. NG

Returning to France over the Rhine from Germany quite a different experience in a local train than in the opposite direction on the first direct ICE from Paris to Berlin @EuropeByRail

Romanian night train memories. There is always something special about arriving at the break of dawn at some small town station, especially in winter when the skies have a particularly beautiful pastel glow.

Of course, none of this is a substitute for getting your hands on the timetable itself. The digital edition of the December European Rail Timetable is available now, and you can also buy an annual print and digital subscription: europeanrailtimetable.eu

@jersiegel @TheWorld Apols, Jeremy, but I am incredibly busy this week. I guess your request is quite time sensitive. I don't have time to do this before the weekend, which I assume is too late for you. Try @stephengbrown whom I met on the train. Lovely guy. Nicky
