The implication that if you steal something from a museum you're depriving the public is kinda silly. They have more stuff in the basement! A lack of art objects is not one of the many real threats to American museums.

@BigMeanInternet I was going to say something sarcastic here, but I really want you to reconsider what you are saying. Every piece of art is a reflection of a single individuals experience, their thoughts, and their interpretation of their medium. No single piece of art can simply be replaced.

The "stealing from the Louvre is cool" bit from Tolentino & Piker is especially dumb performative radicalism. Stealing from the Louvre means an artwork anyone could enjoy for a small fee will now end up in some super-rich asshole's private collection. Good socialisming, guys!
