You don't have to agree with someone's religious beliefs. But dismissing every religious objection as "homophobia" isn't tolerance. It's just a different form of intolerance. The irony is that you're accusing others of bigotry while displaying it yourself. You've already decided that anyone who follows a religious teaching you disagree with must be motivated by hatred. That's not tolerance, and it's not understanding. It's prejudice.

@thompsonian87 @KICKandSTAND21 @SInow It's definitely a complicated topic that I struggle to fully wrap my head around, but I try to do the best I can to treat people fairly.

@thompsonian87 @KICKandSTAND21 @SInow I have no use for that stuff. It honestly one of the things that drives me more towards the middle. Too much hate on both extremes. Plus, Michelle Obama really did nothing to deserve all that.

I understand and respect the individuals choice. This case i see where u are coming from. Hating or resenting pride stuff is what im talking about. Kinda like the people that get off on calling Michelle Obama a man. And believing it. Then self-righteously calling themselves Christians. Gross stuff

Some of them are. For others, thankfully, that's in the past. The homosexuality issue is tough because people tend to weaponize both sides. Christianity teaches that it's a sin, but it also teaches that we're all sinners and that we're supposed to love one another. I try to honor my faith while treating people with respect. I don't have all the answers, but that's the best I can do.

@TheWayOfWade Yeah Masyn is definitely spoiling us with that arm. I wish he could just get the offense up to league average. I don't even need it to be a plus bat with his play at short, but just get up to like a 700 OPS.

Yes, let's take a guy who can't even hit league average, who is only known for his defense, and move that guy to a position where you expect more offense and less range. I can't believe people used to think this clown was an insider. #stlcards

I think you're confusing "it existed" with "the Church approved of it." Lots of things have existed for thousands of years. That doesn't mean Christianity endorsed them. The question isn't whether homosexuality existed. It obviously did. The question is whether Christian teaching on it changed, and it really hasn't.

Still weird. Gay has been happening for a long long time, in positions of power and even ancient christianity. The stance today has been conflated and weaponized. Mainstream christianity has lost its way at the same magnitude of those they oppose. I love the teachings of Jesus, I dont like hypocrites and weaponizing the holy message.

@TheWayOfWade I understand how it could have read that way. I've got no issue with JJ playing either middle infield spot. He's good at short and elite at 2B.

@ExitVelo314 I guess did, that makes more sense. I was very confused. 😂 I see Masyn as a trade piece if he can’t turn it around to at least a 90-95 OPS+ guy at the dish. Defense plays, but gets a short leash. Especially if an extension hangs in the balance.

I forget if I already bitched about Jordan Walker or not, so I'm gonna do it again just to be safe. The fact that he's #6 in all star voting is criminal. James Wood is the ONLY outfielder who deserves to be ahead of Walker. That's it. And crazy thing is Wood is currently #7.

@thompsonian87 @KICKandSTAND21 @SInow Many religions are. Religious beliefs date back a long time. They didn't change. The world around them did. But in regards to the law, there has to be a way to accommodate both sides without violating anyone's rights. I believe MLB is bluring that line.

@TheWayOfWade You misunderstood what I said. I'm talking about moving Masyn Winn to 3B. That's asinine. JJ can hold his own at either middle infield spot. That isn't the problem. The problem is putting a 78 wRC+ hitter at a corner spot.

Poe’s Law, can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not. Not that I think JJ should be the everyday shortstop, but: 17% above average at the plate 40 points above league average OBP Top 1 percentile defender Top 6 percentile baserunner Top third percentile offense Second in WAR at his position by a hair, playing in a far less hitter friendly park than Turang Do or don’t you know ball, bro? Like your RT regarding the SF “drama,” not throwing shade, just getting mixed signals over here

I think that's where the distinction is. If the Pride cap is truly optional and players are allowed to wear a standard team cap instead, MLB is on much stronger ground. If players are being coerced to wear it despite religious objections and then punished for expressing those objections, that crosses a line.

@ExitVelo314 @thompsonian87 @SInow That's understandable The issue is the defacing of uniform which is against the CBA which MLB is going to eat up Especially since the players sign that clause Players have religious grounds to support what they believe in yet... they don't have grounds to deface the uniform

@ColleenNobdp5 @howertonjosh @TheAthletic @GrantBrisbee The Christian stance is that child rape, torture, and other violent crimes are evil and should be punished. I'm not sure what that has to do with whether employees are entitled to religious accommodations.

Several Giants players wrote Bible verses on their caps to respond to Pride Night. The gesture echoed a familiar pattern: making a night meant for inclusion about something else entirely. Read more for free, from @GrantBrisbee: nyti.ms/3Q23q8J

@ColleenNobdp5 @TheAthletic @TheAthleticMLB It most certainly is, Colleen. Glad we all agree on that. Now, if you'd like to discuss the actual topic, this conversation is about religious accommodation, not criminal law.

@thompsonian87 @KICKandSTAND21 @SInow That's the point. They objected on Pride Night because that's the night MLB required them to wear something they believed violated their religious beliefs. If an accommodation was required, that's exactly when it would apply.

@mullarkey14 "Income tax bad" isn't an argument. It's a slogan. Show me the math that says shifting more of the tax burden onto everyday purchases helps working families. Every pro-Amendment 5 argument I've seen ignores the sales tax hike. This isn't a tax cut. It's tax redistribution.

Missouri 5th amendment to end the income tax is a scam. I'm glad to see so many people on both sides of the aisle recognizing how harmful it really is. If it passes, sales tax will be absolutely brutal.

@KICKandSTAND21 @SInow A morality clause isn't a blank check to ignore religious accommodation laws. The question isn't how much money they make or whether they chose the profession. The question is whether MLB was required to accommodate a sincere religious objection and chose not to.

@ExitVelo314 @SInow To an extent but remember these guys sign a moral clause in their contracts which goes over tolerance as well as them breaking their own CBA. The lawsuit would get thrown out No sympathy top percent earners, especially in a voluntary field
