It’s National Sickie Day today 🤕 Statistically, the first Monday in February is the day UK employees are most likely to call in sick, earning it the nickname ‘National Sickie Day’. Each year, an estimated 375,000 British workers take the day off. That said, I believe this pattern is unlikely to apply to the NHS, where staff are far more likely to work while unwell than take sick leave. A @TheBMA report published in January, titled The Cost of Carrying On, found that 81% of more than 3,500 doctors and medical students had worked while unwell in the previous three months. I would be surprised if this figure did not reflect the wider NHS workforce.
