We’ve now taken in billions in carbon taxes from hardworking people across Ireland. But where is the accountability? Families are being told this tax is about climate action and retrofitting homes. Yet serious questions remain about how this money is actually being spent. At the same time: • People are struggling to heat their homes • Commuters have no alternative but to drive • Farmers and small businesses are under pressure And still, the tax keeps rising. There is a fundamental issue here. You cannot keep increasing the cost of living on ordinary people while failing to deliver real, measurable outcomes. Our position is clear: • Scrap carbon tax on home heating oil • Reduce fuel costs for workers, farmers, and small businesses • Stop the automatic increases Climate policy must be fair. The Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, completely misled the Dáil today by claiming that 100% of carbon tax revenue is ring-fenced for retrofitting homes. That is simply not true. A report from the Comptroller and Auditor General shows that only 61% of carbon tax funds are actually going to the areas they were intended for. The public deserves honesty and transparency, not spin.
