If Israel wasn’t able to provide military pressure in the middle east, it would cost us (like it is right now) $15 million per day to have our fleet tied up in that region. We would have to basically leave it there, unable to use it for anything else. That’s $5.5 billion per year just for the ships. It actually saves us money to have Israel oppose the radical terror regimes in the region on behalf of the west. I know you’re not really going to get this but that is actually why. Do they take advantage? Yes. Do politicians line their pockets in the process? Yes. Is there corruption involved? Of course. But there’s also a salient reason why we do it despite that.
