On this date [October 4] in 1992: Jeff Gordon drove the #45 Super Late Model at Winchester Speedway. Car owner Mike Laughlin offered Gordon the chance to compete in the Winchester 400 in Indiana. He started 19th and finished 24th after crashing just shy of halfway.
