Meet the world's luckiest man on earth, Frank Selak. Born in 1929 and lived as a music teacher. You might be wondering how he is the luckiest man title, well...let's see. He was on a train going to see a friend in 1962, when the train had a kind of 'Final destination ' accident and fell into a river. 17 passengers were killed but Frane Selak survived... He was able to swim to a nearby land and had just a broken arm from this freak accident. Now, it didn't end here. The next year, 1963, Frane was on a plane flying from Zagreb to Rijeka when another 'Final destination ' accident happened. The plane door pulled away from the aircraft which eventually made it crash. This time, 19 people died but Selak who fell from the plane, landed on a haystack and survived once again. He woke up in the hospital and was just okay a few days later. Three years later, in 1966, he had another accident. A bus accident this time, where the bus he was in, fell into a river. There were 4 casualties but Frane still came out lucky, with almost nothing happening to him. Later on, in 1970 his fuel tank exploded and he survived that too. In 1973, he survived another accident where a leaking fuel pump almost claimed his life. Many years later, in 1995, he had an encounter with master death again but the Immortal Frane survived as usual when a bus knocked him down and he didn't die. 1996 was his final encounter with death, when a truck almost hit his car on the road but he reportedly jumped out safely and watched from afar as his car exploded. So there it is, the luckiest man on earth....or would you say he was unlucky for always encountering death?? It depends on how you want to view this. As if mother luck wanted to reward him for his past encounters, in the mid 2000s, Frane won a lottery in Croatia, a jackpot of 600,000 pounds!!! Which is around a million dollars then. With this, he bought a luxurious house and eventually sold it in 2010 then returned to live a quiet and simple life for the rest of his years. Whatever happened along the way, Frane’s story has a happy ending. He spent the last of his winnings on a hip operation, and on a shrine to the Virgin Mary in thanks for his good fortune. The Immortal Frane finally died in 2016 at age 87.
