@mariusmosbach @icmlconf Of course it is and of course it has; when one gest 30,000 submissions, then N% are most likely --> let us try maybe we are lucky... how do you deal with this?

💭 @icmlconf review content quality is really concerning... Seems like we have reached a stage where not using LLMs makes reviews even worse (and lazy) than heavily LLM assisted ones.. Don't have a good solution but this really feels like reviewing has to change fundamentally..

I find it weird that many reviewers pick on limitations and use that as weakness in paper when authors point to limitations explicitly !!

#ICML reviews are out. And they are the worst I have seen in many years. Horrible. I think its time to just put papers on arxiv (after sending to these places and incorporating whatever little feedback we get).

As far as I know, we cannot choose the exact number of papers we review at top conferences. This means I review much less than I would actually like to. I would sincerely be happy to review two papers for each top conference (ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, AISTATS, etc.), but being asked to review five to seven papers per conference is far too much.

I gave a strong rejection to a paper in ICML. Another reviewer made exactly the same points (missing relevant prior work, unmotivated loss function, ...) and gave a weak reject? Are you kidding me?

Some reviews on theory papers at ICML make me want to hug the reviewer and telling them "I am so sorry, you don't understand the basics of this topic..."
