Listen to me carefully, brooo. When you are a kid, that quiet uncle who barely shows up to family gatherings usually looks like the weird one. Everyone whispers about him like he is the oddball who does not care about family traditions. He shows up once in a while, stays for a short time, then disappears back into his own life. As a kid you assume he is antisocial or maybe just a bit of an asshole. Then adulthood starts slapping you around with reality and suddenly that guy begins to make a lot more sense. Families are not always the wholesome support system people pretend they are. Sometimes they are full of drama, jealousy, manipulation, and constant emotional bullshit. You start noticing the gossip cycles, the passive aggressive comments, the endless expectations placed on certain people. Every family has at least a few people who create chaos for entertainment. When you are younger you do not see it clearly because you are just part of the environment. But as you grow older, patterns start revealing themselves. That is when the quiet uncle’s strategy suddenly looks less strange and more like survival. He probably figured out years ago that constant exposure to family drama drains the hell out of a person. So he created distance to protect his peace. Not necessarily because he hates everyone, but because he understands boundaries. Sometimes the smartest man in the family is the one who keeps a little space between himself and the daily circus. Age gives you the perspective to see that avoiding unnecessary chaos is not weakness. It is actually a pretty smart way to stay sane in a world where too many people enjoy stirring shit just to feel alive.
