They do this to avoid paying taxes or duties on those items. But when the items get lost, they will now want to claim the actual value😂
I remember handling a case for DHL some years ago and the customer declared the value of her gold as $10. But when those gold got missing, she came back to claim millions. She lost the case.

Those drivers will charge you more if you tell them the value of what you’re sending. Anytime I want to send a wristwatch to a customer, they’ll say, ‘Wristwatch? Oya bring 10k’ for a place where tfare is 5k.
They’ll say, ‘You’re rich now, wristwatch of 300k plus. Oya, what’s the price?’ The first time I told them the exact price, they kept billing me and refused my offer, so I had to pay more.
Since that day, my wristwatch no dey pass 10k, and I now pay way less compared to the first time.
