Britain will be immeasurably poorer without the musicians, artists, comedians and other creatives who will struggle to perform in the coming months. We have to stand up for them now, along with all self-employed people. Our culture depends on it.

Not sure we've communicated well enough that social distancing interventions will pay dividends in 1-3 weeks. Anything that happens in the next 10 days was already baked in prior to that. A surge in cases now would NOT mean that social distancing isn't working.

@FizzMezzo @am_blythe And that’s 2500 vs. 0 if you have the fortune to have any savings, which would be ok if the benefits to employed were in any way taking whatever savings they happen to have taken into but they get paid regardless of their current means.

Please keep putting pressure on government to act on our behalf. Self-employed or not, it doesn’t take much to see that £2500 vs £370 is not quite fair.. We pay our tax and pump money into the economy through our work like everyone else, why are we being forgotten? #selfemployed

7/ I’m also strengthening the safety net for self-employed people by suspending the minimum income floor.
That means self-employed people can now access, in full, Universal Credit at a rate equivalent to Statutory Sick Pay for employees.
