This is the generation that knows how to rewind a cassette tape with a No. 2 pencil. They know the suspense of waiting all week for a movie to air on TV, because if you missed it, it was gone. They remember rotary phones, looking up a family in a massive paper phonebook, and the excitement of getting a color television. They survived party lines, typewriter ribbons, early brick cell phones, and flip phones — and today, they might accidentally send you a 7-minute voice memo where the first 6 minutes are just them breathing and asking, "Hello? Can you hear me?" And don't you dare laugh. Because without a GPS, these people could drive halfway across the country using nothing but an old paper map, a cooler full of sandwiches, and the gut feeling that "the exit should be coming up somewhere around here." They are the ultimate masters of household magic. They can stitch, tighten, glue, and fix just about anything. And somewhere in their pantry, they have a "bag of bags" that is literally older than half the gadgets you own. Leave people over sixty alone. They saw the world before the internet, and they navigated the world after it. And through it all, they didn't just get by — they thrived.

Blacks, if you’re so proud of your heritage and truly love your people, why don’t you go to Africa and help your own? They are starving to death, and are drinking infected disease water. They are living in mudhuts with no electricity. Why not be with your people and lift them?

In the late seventies I crossed the Atlantic on the QE2. I went First Class, which I paid for with my first real paycheck. We had a mandatory dress code for dinner. Black Tie and commensurate formal wear for the ladies. It was one of my favorite memories.

I lost my granddaughter yesterday. She passed away due to preeclampsia. Her mom had an emergency C-section and could really use your prayers, please. My son and our family are mourning such a deep loss. I know Paisley is in heaven with our Lord and Savior. That's my only peace.

Right. I've had 5 experiences working with or just chatting with different black folks just in the last 4 days and they are not this. A nerd, proper language, talked to one about the Stanley Cup and he knew some things about the teams that I didn't know. One is the most jolly respectful business attired man I've ever met. That said, I'm good at detecting which black people are trouble, what areas to avoid and how they communicate, and am able to steer clear of all that nonsense.
