In June 1942 Admiral Andrew Cunningham (Dublin), CinC RN Med Fleet, was flying in a US Navy flying boat (in civilian markings) from Foynes Co Limerick to New York. As they approached Newfounderland for re-fuelling, the pilot decided with 1K gallons of fuel left to keep flying!

Congratulations to the DAA on the opening of the new second runway (28R/10L) at @DublinAirport this afternoon. @Ryanair Mentored First Officer Gareth O’Driscoll, who trained with AFTA, operated the first flight from the new runway with Ryanair Base TRE Captain John McCarthy.
