Rowan: We have been writing instructions on how to cast a witch's spell. We had to include adverbials of time and imperative verbs. We had great fun creating the ingredients for our spell. We had freshly-picked, human eyeballs and slimy, slippery troll bogeys to name a few!

Pine: They were lucky enough to have a full tour of Home Park including sitting in the manager's chair and going in to have a look at the changing rooms.  They came away with a stash of books each and even some to share around the school and to add to our school library.

Willow: In literacy, we continued our unit based on the book Escape from Pompeii, focusing on using powerful verbs and prepositions to add detail to our writing. A big thank you to all the adults for the fabulous costumes and word choices on World Book Day, they looked amazing.

Willow have finished their unit on multiplication and division and can use their own methods to find 2-digit numbers divided by a 1-digit number. In science they continued thinking about what you need to do to be as fit and healthy as possible and investigated a balanced diet.

Maple: we've had lots of activities based around Roald Dahl, we made Charlie and the chocolate nest cakes, Marvellous Medicine explosions and a drawing task in the style of Quentin Blake. We have also written our own stories inspired by Little Red Riding Hood.

Elm: In computing, we have been learning about spreadsheets. Last week, the children learnt what a cell was and discovered how to add text, add colour and solve calculations using these cells. This week we have been learning how to add images and how to duplicate them.

Oaks in the outdoors! We have added a bug hotel and a mud kitchen. The children had lots of fun going on bug hunts and talking about the different insects they found in the playground. We have also had lots of fun creating wonderful mud pies, cakes and soups.

World Book Day! A big thank you to all the children and their parents for the amazing words and costumes. The children spent the day having fun with books, creating a dictionary of exciting and unusual words and even had a story read to them by Dan Pullinger from Plymouth Albion

Elm Class have started learning about numbers up to 50.  We have been learning the place value of these numbers, recognising how many tens and ones make up the number. We have also looked at how to write the numbers to 50, remembering that the tens column comes first.

It was a pleasure to welcome students from St Dominic’s School and @FordPrimary to @homeparkstadium to celebrate World Book Day 😊 The aim is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own. Each student was given multiple books to take home and enjoy at their leisure 📚 #PLPrimaryStars | @PLCommunities | @Literacy_trust

Maple have also jumped head first into a world of pure imagination in PE dance sessions, where we explored a sweet shop, discovered a Golden Ticket to the chocolate factory and bathed in the chocolatey river! I think the expressions in the photos say it all.

Maple class have continued to look at the story of Little Red Riding Hood in English this week. We have been retelling the story using puppets and changing elements of the plot to create a new shared version.

In science, Willow class have begun working in teams to produce a health plan for a client they have been given. We began the challenge by playing a game called 'Diet Riot' where the children reminded themselves which animals were carnivores, herbivores or omnivores.

Willow: This week we have begun a new unit of writing based around the non-fiction book Escape from Pompeii. The children discussed the events in the book and then created their own volcanoes by following instructions, to mix some magic ingredients together.
