Matthew Powledge is leaving the Baylor football coaching staff and has not yet made a decision on his next destination, but has some options available. Powledge worked under Dave Aranda on two occasions, including special teams/safeties in 2020-21 at Baylor and came back after a year with Dan Lanning as co-DC at Oregon. Aranda brought Powledge back to be his defensive coordinator in 2023 and he has also handled the safeties. #SicEm @BUFootball

Oregon State is expected to hire Baylor defensive line coach Inoke Breckterfield as its new defensive line coach, sources tell @CBSSports. Breckterfield, a former Oregon State star defensive end, worked at Washington, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin and Pitt before Baylor.

"After careful evaluation and consideration, we have decided to retain Coach Dave Aranda as the leader of our football program. We recognize this decision will generate strong opinions. Let me be clear: Baylor expects excellence, accountability and competitiveness at the highest level. We are not complacent, and we are not settling for mediocrity. This decision reflects several critical factors: -Stability during transition: Our next Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics must have the opportunity to assess the football program and chart its long-term direction -Student-athlete experience: Retaining our current roster and protecting a nationally ranked recruiting class are essential to our future success; and -Financial stewardship: In an era of extreme volatility in college athletics with NIL, the transfer portal, revenue-sharing, and much more, this approach allows us to invest wisely in the program’s future rather than incur significant buyout costs during an unprecedented turnover of coaches across the country. #Baylor president Linda Livingstone confirmed in a statement that Mack Rhoades has stepped down as Baylor’s Athletic Director effective immediately. Co-interim ADs Jovan Overshown and Cody Hall will stay in their current roles while BU “aggressively” identifies its next AD.

There is a scheduled meeting today at 4 with who I'm being told is the Board of Regents to discuss the next move on the search for a new AD, regardless of the timing of Mack Rhoades being officially out (discussions have been ongoing since he took a leave of absence). I had a source tell me late on Wednesday, "there is no way he will be back" although that was never in question. #SicEm
