@SimonCalder I prefer to use cash & not had any problems in the last 18 months in Poland, Hungary, Spain, Austria, Gibraltar & Austria. Same here in England. Thankfully my home town has plenty of banks. It seems some people like to hype it up that no one uses cash anymore.

Just back from a trans-European trek with far fewer cash euros than I started with (though I cleared Switzerland with only a severely overstretched credit card).

@SimonCalder I would like to fly more with Ryanair as they have more routes but taking some clothes etc in a reasonable size bag with me makes them not very cheap. However I do fly with them next month but easyjet allows a reasonable size bag with no extra cost so I fly with them more.
