@KevinH_PhD No one in our field wants these cuts, but where should they cut it to make up the deficit? Ultimately that's what policymakers have to determine because the other side will complain and may do so louder. In short: what's the solution?

@NIH @CSRpeerreview I would like to see the financials & hard data on how this will actually save money. It seems the money will just need to be reallocated from ICs to CSR. The workload (i.e., total number of grants) will be the same. New SRGs under CSR will need to be created to cover the reviews.

NIH is centralizing peer review of all applications for grants, cooperative agreements and research and development contracts within the agency’s @CSRpeerreview. This is expected to save NIH more than $65 million annually & make the review process more efficient. go.nih.gov/iGmUyfH
