#CityPowerUpdates #CityPowerOutages #RoodepoortSDC *Outage Update – Kloofendal Substation, Roodepoort* Kloofendal Substation in Roodepoort Experiences Outage The Kloofendal 88kV substation, supplied by the Roodetown substation via a double circuit 88kV transmission line, experienced an outage. This circuit also supplies power to Wilropark, Peter Rd, and Christian de Wet substations, all of which are affected. On April 12, 2024, while City Parks were removing trees along the 88kV lines, an unfortunate incident occurred: a tree fell onto the transmission lines, causing damage to both circuits. Efforts began yesterday to clear the damaged lines and remove trees to prevent further damage. However, due to the challenging terrain and associated risks, work ceased at 22:00 last night. Work resumed at 06:00 this morning, with reconstruction of the lines in progress. It is anticipated that the first circuit will be ready for restoration by this afternoon. The following areas are affected: Horison, Horison View, Florida Park, Georgia, Roodekraans, Wilropark, Allen’s nek, Heldekruin, Eagle Canyon, Ruimsig, Wilgeheiwel, Constantia Kloof, Strubensvalley, Weltevredenpark, Honeydew, and surrounding areas. White Ridge: Tripped due to cable fault. During the process of restoring, the team discovered that there is a further fault. They are currently testing.
