@G4HTZ @RFconsultantUK Keep the IC-9700 for GHz talkback, occasional UKAC especially 23cm. Run the IC-705 for all transverting. Perfect system.

I was walking in my sleep last night! Switched on the PC and accidentally bought another IC9700 😀 One for EME, one for LEO 🛰️

Received a slot for 10ghz from PE1RKI …20 slots per side….14.7 dbi apparently?? Make a nice beacon or general monitoring antenna

Came back to X as not much of interest on blue sky

@RFconsultantUK One day they will move out and peace will prevail …..but it is only a temporary reprieve as they will return one day armed with …..grandchildren !!!! Who can turn your house upside down within minutes of arrival …..shack time in retirement..forget that …😀

Some mast maintenance and a check over of my Yaesu SDX1000 rotator. Fresh grease applied and light oil. This unit I bought new in August 1990. Still working perfectly.

@G4HTZ @g1dfl_pete @G1PPA There’s lots of trees/vegetation at Worst Causeway so not so good for tripod mounted dishes. On the map, the Barley site is good. If you drive along that road the farmer has recently laid some nice gravel entrances to fields. Ideal for parking.

24ghz pre amp and adaptor just arrived from Netherlands from PA0PLY …better performance and cheaper than a KUHNE device …..can finish boxing up the 24ghz transverter

@g1dfl_pete @G1PPA Thanks Pete ….guess it’s where you can pull in safely…..apparent the Cambridge group use a place called worts causeway to the east of Cambridge…but only seems to be about 65m asl …I’m 89m here but hills to the west …..will take a drive out one day

@G4HTZ @G1PPA This is a useful portable microwave map. I've been to Therfield IO92XA and Barkway, next to GB3PI. Therfield was much better to the north (IO93) and south west/west (IO91).

@G4HTZ @g1dfl_pete @G1PPA There are lots of good spots up there, including over the other side of the A10 (e.g. Sandon/Therfield). I'd go for a drive around and see what you can find.

@g1dfl_pete @G1PPA There’s a site a bit nearer near barkway along a road called the Joint which apparently is a reasonable site ….not sure to the west ….

@G4HTZ @G1PPA Excellent choice IO91RU. There was a UKAC turf war there once! Now it's largely unused for radio. Great site for 10G and 24G!!

@g1dfl_pete @G1PPA I was thinking Dunstable downs as a /P ….looked a good take off when I was last there a few years ago …about 1hr 30 from here

@G4HTZ Ideally you would need a site (or sites if your happy to rove) where you could work a few on 24GHz. Closest targets would be @G1PPA /P in JO03, G4ODA in IO92 and G3XDY, @g4bao in JO02. #GHz_Bands

@g1dfl_pete Probably have to go portable Pete ..would need to find a decent site around this way ….will hopefully get the dish up on mast sometime soon and see if I can hear CAM BED or PKT beacons from here

@G4HTZ @g1dfl_pete I think you will be surprised what you can do with software lots of filtering etc you end up looking at that waterfall and ignoring 9700 waterfall using omnirig SDR uno will track wit radio

Poor conditions again for #RSGB #SHF #UKAC, 9 QSO's #13cm, 2 on #6cm and 4 on #3cm with ODX M0PAI/P in IO93. #IO91 site was a mud bath with huge puddles but at least it was dry! Lots of rural Community WiFi hash from several local towers. #GHz_Bands
