Q10 You used the 2nd gen SphygmoCor VX, correct? The 3rd gen XCEL from @Atcor uses a femoral cuff for wave generation instead of applanation tonometry which has advantages. Thoughts on accuracy in comparison to the older version? @NakagawaPablo @GParati22 #HYPHIP @HyperAHA

@Hragy @NakagawaPablo @HyperAHA #hyphip there are several solutions to improve tonometric assessment of PWV and to make it easier ( e.g. mechanical arms to help with the probe). And some tonometric devices are now also cheap enough.

@guto_montezano @HyperAHA @NakagawaPablo #HYPHIP Thank you for this important question @guto_montezano. Devices based on algorithms do not measure PWV but only estimate it based on age and brachial SBP. Thus they cannot pick up changes due to vascular damage (e.g. Marfan Syndrome)

Q8 – @GParati22 You mentioned in the discussion that similarities in values of PWV obtained by non-invasive and invasive methods are observed mostly in 55-75 years old patients and not in younger or older patients. Do you have any explanation for this? #HYPHIP @HyperAHA
