If the aircraft is not moving through the air increases air speed the aircraft will not take off. Being stationary on a treadmill the wheels can spin as fast as physically possible and not take off

@engineers_feed If the conveyor belt match the speed of the wheels then when it starts rolling the plane speed would be doubled. Now if you're saying it would rotate in the opposite direction that's a whole nother thing but it would still take off what's this have to do with anything

@RandelLentz @engineers_feed The engines are what pushes the aircraft forward on a runway and in air. tIts the speed the air moves over and under the wings that creates a difference in air pressure resulting in lift. The only variable needed is wind speed

@Shaxei1 @engineers_feed No, that makes no difference. Planes take flight purely due to the air pressure difference above and below the wings. The aircraft in this scenario isn't moving through the air therefore there is no possible way of making a change in air pressure to produce lift

@engineers_feed It depends whether the plane is still able to gain enough speed while the wheels are being rolled backwards at the same speed that the plane is moving forwards (essentially doubling the physical drag from the wheels)
