It’s not difficult & it’s not the refs job to enforce discipline, just the rules. Game management didn’t come into that scenario

Now that the whole banter noise has settled, let’s say the truth. The referee ruined the game with that Camavinga red card. That was way too harsh.

@barrystevenso15 @StandForCeltic We can’t play a 44 game season plus Scottish Cup, international breaks and Euro midweek dates (for a few clubs). It works in the English Champ cos they’re not in Europe.

@StandForCeltic I’d go for 16 teams, play each other twice, 30 games, then split in half and play each other twice more, another 14 games, do away with the league cup to prevent too many games.

A 14 team Premiership where each team plays each other home and away. The league then splits into a Top 7/Bottom 7 who then play each other again home and away. No tears, no drama.

Easy to say don’t be negative in set up, but we’ve no striking talent to punish teams. Solid defence & counter attack from midfield is our only weapon without forwards. Clarke knows this

@potty_9 @Beardster12 So in 2018 & 22 UEFA had 10 group winners and 3 playoff qualifiers from 12 (total 22). 2026 they have 12 group winners + 4 from 12 (24). Hardly a radically easier route to qualify from Europe is it? We did it as group winners against most expectations. Cheer up.

@pieandbov When did he feign violent conduct at fir park? That was Elliot Watt. Also you’re just making an assumption that if VAR intervened he wouldn’t have been booked. If it was dealt with properly at the time he would have been booked and king would have stayed on the pitch

An awful lot of revisionism taking place about the Slattery ban that was dished out yesterday. First of all, the referee did NOT see the incident, he had his back to it as play was miles away from where it happened. The assitant referee also missed it. The red card was advised by the 4th official via communication to the ref who really then had no choice but to give it, presumably thinking VAR would call a review if something was amiss. VAR, for whatever reason, decided it wasn't a clear and obvious error so did not seek to get involved. You can probably imagine, in real time, what the 4th official might have thought he saw. The failure here, other than the cheating itself of course, is that VAR just shrugged it's shoulders and decided there was nothing amiss. Had VAR done it's job, the red would have been overturned, and I don't even think Slattery would have got booked, and the incident would have passed with virtually no further comment. As it is, Saints were reduced to ten men for 30 mins, during which they lost two further goals. Motherwell benefitted from this cheating, like it or not, and the player has now been punished for his role in that and made an example of. Players dive and simulate every week, in EVERY team, yes, but the tech is supposed to be there to help eliminate penalties or red cards being given after simulation. In 2026 a player in the Premiership should not be getting sent off as a result of a player blatantly simulating violent conduct. Motherwell expecting "consistency going forward" are going to be disappointed because the chances of all of the events that happened here taking place again are incredibly slim. Slattery has paid the price for the VAR failure here, but end of the day, he's cheated, and he knew full well what he was doing. Keep seeing folk crying about a 4 game ban. It's a two game ban, same as Richard King would have got for his supposed "violent conduct". It only becomes 4 if he does it again, and although in this particular individuals case you can never rule that out (he had already feigned violent conduct against St.Mirren this season at Fir Park) the chances of him doing it again, and getting a fellow pro sent off again, are negible for the reasons I've already given.

By your metric David May & Nicky Butt had a bigger & better impact than them. Which is quite clearly ludicrous.

I’ve only just seen this goal so this is a serious question, how can this goal be allowed to stand given Ekitike’s position? Yes he doesn’t touch the ball but he interferes with play by dragging Milenkovic away from an area where he could’ve cleared the danger? What’s the rule?

@footy_road Just because the ball strikes him in the head it doesn’t mean it’s a head injury. Did he carry on? Yes, so it wasn’t that bad so shouldn’t be stopped. IMO, if play gets stopped for an injury, the player should go off for 30 seconds like when physios come on for injury.

The ball smashes into Van Dijk’s head and Anthony Taylor doesn’t stop the play. Player safety and concussion protocols suddenly disappear when it’s Liverpool
