Bert Mizusawa

People keep asking: who am I? My name is Bert Mizusawa. I was born in Hawaii but raised and have lived most of my life in Virginia. I have a lovely wife and wonderful kids who have been supporting me graciously on this campaign. I got my education from West Point finishing first in my class. Then I attended Harvard Law School earning a Juris Doctor and a Master of Public Policy. I served in the army for 36 years, achieving the rank of Major General along with awards such as the Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal, and the Legion of Merit. I was also an attorney, giving me a background in law and politics. I've gained experience in legislative work when I was appointed the role of Professional Staff Member in the Senate for the GOP in the late 90s. My strength has been in foreign policy where I helped shape and author key elements of the Trump foreign policy doctrine, which became central to the administration's approach. Now I'm running for Senate to unseat a 17-year incumbent who promised to only run 2 terms.

Senator Warner, the American people can see right through this tired partisan spin. President Trump didn’t start a “war of choice” he ended 47 years of Iranian aggression and nuclear blackmail that previous administrations, including Democrats, enabled. The so-called “$300 billion deal” is not U.S. taxpayer money, it’s regional investment tied to verifiable compliance, something your side never demanded in past failed Iran policies

My family and I went to vote in the republican primary yesterday! Such a rewarding feeling to see your own name on the ballot. I urge all Virginians to make their voice heard and GO VOTE BERT!

I want to reiterate my position on this because I know it’s extremely important to Virginians, especially those in NoVA. I support all efforts to maintain our strategic and physical advantage over China in technology, but data centers come at a cost for Virginians that just isn’t worth it. They are loud, they dramatically increase already high energy prices, and they are just plain UGLY to look at. I support slowing the number of data centers being built in the commonwealth.

I am a strong supporter of our nation's military. Having served as a Major General myself, I understand the struggles and sacrifices these courageous men and women make. They deserve strong benefits after their service is complete, and not to have their hands tied during said service. I salute the men and women defending our freedom every day.

Early voting has officially started as of today! Vote for proven experience, electability, and a true fighter for Virginia. The campaign is far from over, but I hope to get your vote for the Republican primary by August 4th. Go to your local election office and ask for a Republican ballot, fill in Bert Mizusawa and we WILL defeat Mark Warner this coming November.

President Trump promised a taxpayer-free ballroom funded by private donors, and the core project IS exactly that. The public funding is for critical security upgrades, such as drone defense and hardened infrastructure, intended to protect presidents beyond him. Virginians deserve a Senator who understands REAL issues facing them, not one who can't drop upgrading security measures for the most important person in the country.

I support President Trump’s approach to America’s relationship with NATO. I believe the alliance does far more good for us than harm, but it’s not sustainable for the U.S. to carry the lion’s share of the burden. It’s time our allies step up and meet the 2% GDP commitment (or better) that we’ve long exceeded.

As a retired Major General who has spent decades defending our nation, I want to thank President Trump for his leadership in securing a peace deal with Iran. Bringing stability to the Middle East, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and reducing the risk of wider conflict is a win for American security, our economy, and Virginia families who depend on strong national defense and lower energy costs. Peace through strength works. In the Senate, I’ll continue fighting for pragmatic policies that protect our troops, secure our interests, and put Virginia first, regardless of party.

Senator Mark Warner voted for the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan in 2021, a massive, clumsy spending bill that many economists say supercharged inflation by pouring too much money into an already recovering economy. Virginians from the Shenandoah Valley to the beaches are still struggling with higher grocery prices and everyday costs because of the reckless Washington spending Warner backed. It's time to send a strong leader to the Senate who will actually fight for lower costs and put Virginia first, not career politicians like Warner.
