SMS alum on the move to Auburn!!!

@DrJimmySullivan By this new definition that has evolved since the 80’s, this would mean that Charter schools are public schools. Tennessee passed a law that in Tennessee, they must be a 501-c3 to operate here.

@DrJimmySullivan In my opinion, charter schools are not public schools. Here is the new definition. A public school is a school that runs on public funds, usually government-imposed taxes. It's free for everyone to go to a primary or secondary public school. This would mean they are public.

In the two weeks I’ve been out of work, Rutherford county schools is going to have to give 11 million to charter schools out of our fund balance “savings.” This money should be used to purchase land and support our students. I hope people will start paying attention.
