@addojunr Get a new coach! Not necessarily because of the defeat, but there is no structure to our play. It is as if the players don't trust the system..

Kofi, you have been told on numerous occasions that the gold was diversified into forex reserves. Is it a case that you don't trust the BoG or are there alternative pieces of information on the subject that are exclusive to you?
Kofi Tonto@kofitonto

At the time the Gov couldn’t pay workers and had to borrow GHC17B or approx $1.5B to cover wages, the same Gov squandered our gold reserves so their cronies can siphon $1.2B. That $1.2B cheap profits that their cronies made could have paid wages.

One thing is clear, the World cannot do without fossil fuel, at least in our time on this planet. If there are potentials in your country, explore them with better agreements! #Energy

A giant step towards an answer to the question; “Does the Voltaian Basin hold commercial hydrocarbons, or not.” Signs of a potential hydrocarbon presence not in doubt. Either way, there shall be an answer. All the best! 💪🏽

A key step forward in advancing exploration in Ghana’s #VoltaianBasin. Through @GNPCExplorco’s ongoing work, preparations continue toward Ghana’s first inland drilling campaign as we expand the country’s petroleum frontier.

Fresh off Mining Indaba 2026 (Cape Town) I made the following points on converting geopolitics into leverage for Africa during a panel discussion on: “𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮?: ✅ African must use competing courtships (EU/US/Gulf Countries/China/others) to secure capital for infrastructure co-finance, and technology/skills transfer. This moves beyond just signing MoUs. ✅ Some African countries are already leveraging the growing momentum for regional cooperation: countries and regional blocs are exploring joint ventures, shared infrastructure, and integrated value chains to industrialise resources collectively. ✅ African governments should stop confusing export bans as a subsitute for industrial policy. Bans do not automatically translate into value addition without power, logistics, skills, and investable market access; they simply shift trade routes or delay investments. ✅ Pan-African SWFs need to be more active in investing in regional infrastructure and supply chains. It gives Africa skin in the game. ✅ Technology and demand shifts (e.g., battery chemistry changes) can strand poorly chosen beneficiation bets. African governments need to be clear “where we play and define how we win”: choose 2–3 corridors and 2–3 anchor projects, then align the state behind them (permits, power, logistics, skills). Also, benchmark against peers I also had the privilege of moderating the Critical Minerals Africa Group and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) closed-door roundtable on “𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗿: 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻”, which brought together governments, industry leaders, DFIs and technical partners to move from ambition to bankable action. A few takeaways that stayed with me: ✅ Energy and transport logistics are the key binding constraints for beneficiation/value addition: reliability, cost, and speed-to-power are now core determinants of competitiveness. ✅ Renewables can supply energy for mining and minerals value addition, while also nurturing a domestic clean technology industry — but only when paired with enabling regulation (bankable PPAs, wheeling, permitting clarity), grid/transmission planning, and credible delivery models. ✅ Shared-use infrastructure and blended finance (public, private and DFI) are essential to unlock scale — especially for generation and transmission that can serve mines and broader industrial corridors. As always, grateful to fellow speakers and participants for the candour and insights. Working at the nexus of mining, energy, infrastructure and financing structures? I’d welcome a chat. #MiningIndaba #CriticalMinerals #Infrastructure #ValueAddition #Beneficiation #IndustrialPolicy #Africa #Partnerships
